Creating a Revision Directory

Revision directories can be explicitly created by selecting the Convert to Revision option from the file Context Menu, or by uploading multiple files with the same filename.  This topic discusses these two options.  It should be noted that once a file has been converted to a Revision Directory, this process cannot be reversed.

Convert to Revision

Right click on the file to convert and select the Convert to Revision option from the file Context Menu.  The following warning dialogue will be displayed.  Select OK to proceed or Cancel to reject the conversion.

On selecting OK to the above warning, the following confirmation dialogue will be displayed. Click on OK to complete the conversion process.   Users with insufficient privileges to convert the file will be presented with a message box stating that they cannot complete this conversion.  In this situation, select OK to the message and the operation will be terminated.

Assuming sufficient privileges, the Revision Directory has now been created and is indicated by a double icon. For example, if the file to be converted is an MS Word document it will have a single  icon.  When this file has been converted, will have a double MS Word icon .

Uploading Multiple Files

Follow the method for uploading Identical Filenames.  The Upload File form will provide two options.  Select the Create a new file version option.  The Revision Directory has now been created and is indicated by a double icon.
