Before you can configure and use SunMailer, you must configure PHPMailer. First, you must tell SunMailer where to find PHPMailer in one of two ways:

  <li><em>(Recommended)</em> Add the directory containing PHPMailer to PHP's include path.</li>
  <li>Find the directory containing PHPMailer, and provide it to SunMailer so it can load it.</li>
</ol>

To configure PHPMailer, including providing SunMailer the path to PHPMailer, navigate to <a href="&base_url&admin/settings/sunmailer/phpmailer">Adminster &gt; Site configuration &gt; SunMailer &gt; PHPMailer</a>. From this page, you can also send a test email with your chosen configuration settings.

Also on this page, you can choose whether PHPMailer will send one email per subscriber or send one email to a batch of subscribers with the same subscription - subscribers will then be listed in the Bcc field so they cannot know who else receieved the email. Batching emails increasese the likelihood of triggering spam filters due to the use of Bcc, but your mail server without proper configuration may not scale to one mail per subscriber for large mailing lists. Also, the link to unsubscribe or change the subscription at the bottom of the newsletter can only be personalized for each subscriber if batching is disabled.
